How to cut a 2" BSP thread

Hi folks, Im looking to cut a 2" bsp thread on to a iron pipe spigot that is stuck in a very large casting so no chance of it going in the lathe.
Is there anyway this can be done by hand?

You can get a Die of that size but sit down before you look at pricing.

Iron pipe might not take a thread that well, but you could try 2" bsp ratchet threader, if you can get in to use it / swing it.. one of these, try to see if you can hire it...

^^^If you have to do it by hand, you may not be sitting down for a while as you may blow out your 'poffer' valve.
manually doing it is possible and I have done so but after 3 threads on the manual die I was stuffed, went and got myself an electric version to do up to 3".
Now that is easy just stick it into the machine and press the foot pedal, oh by the way did I say easy

Make sure you've stocked up on your Weetabix if you're doing it by hand

Weld a 2" half nipple on it, save yourself a lot of hassle.

I buy them locally, google for pipe fitting suppliers in your area, probably find a BSS branch not too far away

just to confirm, when you said Iron Pipe, did you mean ductile iron or black pipe, as in steel? if it's ductile iron, welding it might be tricky....

How much pipe have you got to play with, as you'll need more than the length of thread if you're using banjo's to allow for the guide into the Dies.

I thought it was Iron as in wrought but it's actually steel in closer inspection. Got plenty of pipe to play with (4") but going to have another go at getting them out first

Managed to get the buggers out! Been in a boiler since 1927. Plenty of heat and two blokes sat on the already 200kgs boiler plus a five foot length of scaff as a lever.
Just found a 2" plug tap for £20 as well to clean up threads

You bee able too buy long nipples with thread both ends

Cheers but Don't need new nipple. Got brass 2" to 54mm fitting to go in to marry it up to a modern install
