It could have a loctite type sealant on it which would make it hard to get turning.

I would suggest putting a bung back into it to make it take a Stilson better and heat it up before giving er wha

If youre happy to damage the paint work, i would second hitting it with a blow torch.

Get a good fitting spanner on it.
Use a can of pipe freezer spray on the inside of the fitting.
Then nip it up tight.
Then rock it loose.
Had to do that on the drain valve of the compressor I just fixed.

i have a brass plug that i can fill the end in for the stilitons but not sure theres and meat to get a grip

but theres not much edges on the nut as well thats there

I'd bet it's been treated with a Loctite type thread locker, before risking the paintwork, maybe try screwing a 100mm pipe nipple into the bush and heating the nipple; the heat will migrate into the bush and hopefully ease the thread locking solution. It's worked for me in the past, although not on an air receiver.

I'd grind the rounded edge off a ring spanner, for a good fit, heat it up, then repeatedly hit the spanner with a lump hammer.

Why remove it? It is a tapered thread - just clean up the threads and use it as is?

Yes clean the threads is an easy idea but as I've put much work in it be nice to make it all good looking

heat it up and use a six sided socket or whatever they’re called. Used to have this problem with thin flats on grant boiler expansion vessel hoses. Only way to get off was with a close fitting socket. Stilsons may work but if they don’t you’ve got even less to grip next time.

I go with this as well, it looks like it's fixed to screw a union into it.

I expect the thread in the receiver is parallel and the reducer has a tapered internal thread?

Arc weld a washer on then a nut then fb stilson. The heat from the welding will help massively.
