Hi All,
i wanted to stick up a quick intro, as i recently joined up...
my primary occupation is sorta electronics basied, however ive been an 'all rounder' since my aprentiship in the lift industy...
did a far bit of arc welding (usually in poorly lit dingy lift shafts and the like...so, yep had arc eye a couple of times! ) and we had a few 3ph migs in the workshop.....progressed on to an inverter ack welder which made things easier..but i still felt most at home with the mig.....did get tought hos to tig and braze at collage, but thats as far as they got!
anywho fast forward 10 years or so i bought myself a mig a while back for 'tinkering' on cars and the like...(yep, im a frustrated engineer thats now 'progressed' in to an office!) anywho...restored a mini...did a bit of fab work on me old pickup truck etc.
this year i thought id push the boundry a little further, so im part way thru a monster truck build...it a hilux on Unimog axles with 50" floatations bolted to the ends...its powered by a 3.9 EFI high compression rover/TVR lump...its primary perpose will be messing about in quarries etc..however at the moment, its a giant garden ornament
currently at the point of the 4link suspention (hence looking online for welding supplies and stumbling across this place)
heres a pic of as it stands at the moment
its gotta go up another foot or so when the springs are in....and also gonna be needing to trim a bit of body to allow for loads fo flex
Cheers
