Hi folks, such a newbie I don't even have a welder yet! I have inherited a pre unloved trailer and have decided to become a DIY welder. It's something I've always fancied having a go at but never had the excuse....erm I mean reason. Looking at a Mig gas and no gas to give me the versatility and going for something like a sealey 150 or clarke 141. I think any pointers would be gratefully received. I'll be trying a couple of projects like a chainsaw mount for the quad too and welding horseshoes. The trailer needs the axle fixed (for offroad) so looking at a straight axle welding the hub stubs into box steel. What sort of steel thickness? any suggestions?
Jings thats a lot of words for me. been enjoying the threads I've read and think its great the feedback given by all you veterans and help givers!
I look forwards to getting involved...
