hydraulic press

I've had the idea of a small press for pressing bearings ect made out of a section of an oxygen cylinder, with a cut out window like a mouth as the working area. Me thinks its going to be inherently strong, but easy to make. A bottle jack in the base pushing up an inner cylinder / floor plate. Also have the benefit of the neck of the cylinder as a center for a big old acme threaded bar.

Your thoughts ?

When I changed the crank bearings on my scoots crankcase halves I put the bearings in the freezer for about an hour,heated the crankcase halves up with my propane torch,took the bearings out the freezer and just literally dropped them in the crankcase halves.

Regularly do the freezer and warming thing but I'd think that the oxy bottle press will be too restrictive in what you can get in there to be much use - unless you are doing miniature engineering!

Yeah, it was an idea, but a frame is going to be better, I've filed this idea under b for bin.
