Hydraulic press

So I fancy building a hydraulic press around 20 or 30 ton should be ample & just wondering what others have built.

Lots of people just use a bottle jack as they are very cheap second hand

I know what you mean about watching the cost most of my projects end up costing more than I could by them for but I still fancy having a go.

i am looking at a press, 20 ton manual or air powered hydraulic bottle jack on ebay for 52 quid, not sure what material i am going to use yet, probably 75x10mm flatbar with inch dia pins for table adjustment

That's probably the sort of thing I will end up doing.

i have a few pics that i nicked off various posts here, one of them was spec'd 75x13 with 30mm holes for a 20 ton jack, but for what i am likely to use it for (bending flat bar and pressing bearings) i dont think i will ever get to the 20 ton mark (always nice to know i could though) and having the air input too is appealing to me as i like automated stuff when i have a lot of bars to bend

Look out for MOD sales. got a 20 ton press, about 4 years ago, from a MOD sale.
Cost me £50.

There is a Place near Corsham, wilts. I know they get ex MOD kit in.

I already have the 15 ton bottle jack got it for a tenner but also looking at the press but im wanting it at a certain size of around 12" or around 24"

i have seen a press able to work at 100ton at a 4-1 ratio but it was alot bigger using 2 thick press bar leaves

but ive now seen a roller machine rated at 24" 3mm for it to be rolled at full length of 24"

so was considering a 2 build using both in a type of build if i have my way id be upping it to a 5mm roller type

dosnt mean im building this one but gives you the quotes ive used above

i prefer this type for what im needing

i like that press brake, will be looking to make an attachment for my press for braking
