Hydrovane 3phase of single phase with vfd

I have a Hydrovane v01 3 phase compressor and want to run it with a yl600 vfd. Anyone any advice on hooking up the pressure switch to the VFD?

I don't specifically know that VFD but on the assumption it's similar to this one https://bulkman3d.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/YL620-A-Inverter-Manual.pdf there appear to be 5 "multi-inputs" although the manual is really badly written (it makes the HuanYang one seem clear as day) and it's clear as mud as to what the parameters want to be.

What other switches do you have/want to have and which way round is the pressure switch? Is it NC and opens when it hits pressure or NO and it closes when it hits pressure?

If it's an NO and closes when it hits pressure I think you'd want to connect between "X GND" and X1 with P00.17 set to 7...but it's a terrible manual and really unclear so I may be sending you up the garden path there!

The pressure switch needs to be in the stop circuit - could be you only have one enable input anyway. Does the machine have an unloader that releases the air pressure when it stops? Some have this facility on a pressure switch, so the machine carries on running unloaded (on a timer) before stopping and then restarting - best way I think.

I'm in a little over my head to be completely honest. Not sure what way the pressure switch is set up, will check that.
It starts the hydrovane, I just want the pressure switch to start/stop the vfd if that makes sense?
I think the motor can be wired in 415v 3 phase and 230 3 phase if that's what you mean?
Machine doesn't have an unloader.

I would also like to set a ramp up if possible, but am getting lost with the terminology in the manual.

You should be able to rig the pressure switch to the forward start control.

Similarly, you should be able to set the ramp up time to a couple or so seconds.

Some of the instructions can be a bit baffling - my top tip is to change just one thing at a time!

I think it's an nc and opens pressure switch. I have it connected to common and x4 which is forward. Not sure which which setting it should be on in p00.20.

Less than a piston compressor I would say?
But you need an unloading valve of sorts - a simple solenoid that drops the air out of the outlet pipe (between the compressor and the non return on the tank inlet, open when machine off.

Ours pulls a tonne of current, on three phase it will trio a standard breaker 32A

How many KW is the little V01 - I would just fit a single phase motor.

I did - to a bigger hydrovane.


Most Hydrovans like to run up to temp - keep cutting in and out - does them no good - the air head oil goes white - they need to run and get hot - very hot.

"Inrush" - start up current is not gonna be huge for 1.1kw.

Why do you want to "cut it in and out" on a pressure switch? Just let it run - once the Hydrovane airhead is up to pressure - it will "oil divert" and not pull too much current at all....

These mechanically unload inside the airhead.

To pressure switch these - you need a tank and a "normal compressor pressure switch".

Most with tanks are wired Manual/Auto to beat the pressure switch (mine is).
