Hydrovane 5 problem

I got a Hydrovane HV05 25 and have not changed the oil in a long time. Dont use the compressor very often only a couple of times in a year. I know I should have been changing the oil but I always forget it and now the compressor is dead. I feel really stupid. I got the compresor really cheap a newyearseve from my local gasstation that had replaced it since there was oil coming out in there carwash so it was just placed ouside the station. I asked if I could buy it otherwise I said it would probably be stolen very fast. I bougt it for about £100 and it was only a year old. A very good affair they told me in my local workshop for compressors and helped me with new oil and , I guess filter.
Well now The oil looks really bad and water and brown lumps came out. I think about one and a half liter,,

In the electric box I could see that the fuse was blown. Its a 2A 250 volt fuse.

As I sad before I dont really remember but I think I changed a oilfilter when I bought it a long time ago since the gasstation who had it had have wrong oil so I got the right one and it have worked perfect now for I guess 8-10 years. Yes I know Im a ******* who didnt change the oil since I remember it was important but tme flies away and the compressor hade done its work..

It worked perfect a week ago ( and now when I see the oil I just wonder how it could run)but yesterday it was dead.

Have i ruined it now or can I bee so lucky that its just to get rid of the bad oil and a new fuse to get it running again. ?????? Somebody have a advise for me. Sorry for my bad english

The fuse is only for the control circuit and not the main motor. What is causing the fuse to blow will depend upon which electric box is on your machine. Several different ones have been used over the years.
Change the oil and run the machine until it gets hot. It should run around 65c above ambient temperature.
These machines do rust if they are run infrequently and do not reach high temperatures.
I recently had to rebuild one that had major rust damage after 5 months. It ran for around 15minutes early morning and 15 minutes in the evening.

Okej. Thanks but it will not start as i said. Its saturday today and I only have about one liter oi and I think it takes 1,8 literl. Do you think it will start with a new fuse. This electrical box (theres one more sitting on the motor) who is placed inside the plate on the tank where the motor and compressor is on the top. Therse two fuses next to eachother but in the other hole there isnt sitting anything,. Just a empty hole without fuseholder.

And next question - isnt there a oilfilter to??

Electrical box on the motor is just a terminal box.
The empty fuse holder is used in countries with different supply voltages(one holder is used for 415v supply and the other for 380v supply).
I would examine the wiring before trying a new fuse and check the contactor is moving freely.

The machine does hold about 1.8l of oil.
There is not a oil filter on these machines.

Hydrovane are very fussy over oil and also recommend servicing at regular intervals even when the compressor is not used. If you've had 8 years out of it you've not done bad for the money you paid. It sounds like time for a full service or rebuild.

I can see that today and I guess that a full sevice isn´t just oilchange, filtercleaning and oilcoolercleaning I guess

Talked to a man today (that helpedmed ten years ago when I bougt the hydrovane) and got good news. I will change some parts, check some and since the oli wasn't white he didn't think it was a any problem to make it working good again. The filter I did remenber I changed last time just looks like a filter and is called oilseparator and that i will change again. The valves from tank to compressor I will check since the can be a problem if they let air from tank go back and then it will be much harder för the engine to start and that can be a reasom why the fuse went..

Shall do a trick he learned me and that is to run it with, in sweden we call it kristallolja or cristaloil for som minit tho clean from dirty oil.

I bougt a valve that automatic blows the tank In intrervalls from every half minut till once a day and from one second to some minits. I think that will do it.

Im very glad for the help I got from here and again. Internet and the forums here is goldmines

Now it runs again. First five seconds with the crystal-oil it sounds terrible next five not so bad and next ten seconds it worked but oil came out everywhere. Put the right oil in and then... wow after five seconds noise it was silent and build up the pressure. ..

After about five minutes with open valve for blowing the tank the temperature was 55 degrees..
Guess I'm lucky and happy. Love my Hydrovane and promise to take good care the rest of my life
