Hydrovane 5

My brother in law has offered me his Hydrovane 5, has said it’s mine for whatever I think it’s worth, he just wants rid as he has no storage space (my dad’s storing to for him) and not likely to need again. It runs OK but has some oil leaking - I know no more at the mo as it’s in the UK and I’m in France, should I take it?

Other than inflating tyres and rearranging the dust in the workshop I don’t need it, but I could then buy a few air tools...

If you are only going to run it up to pressure for pumping tyres on the odd occasion then a Hydrovane probably isn't what you need. They really need to be run up hot enough to disperse any moisture or you will end up with problems.

The big beauty of them is the noise, they are way quieter than a piston compressor. I think my Henry vacuum make more noise than my HV502 which is basically a 2800rpm Hydrovane 5. You can have them running continuously with no issues.

I would love to upgrade to a hydro vane.

But usually sell for silly money.
Same as said above, as soon as you have it, you will wonder how you ever got by without it.

Really?! Either he has utterly no use for it, (and really likes you) or has forgotten how much they can be worth.

Usually hydrovanes sell for 500+.
If I was you a couple of decent slabs of beer would be going his ways.
