Hydrovane 501

Hi,

Been chatting to a friend who has a the above with a 1.1kW motor 4 something cfm. I have a 3kW 4hp 1ph motor, can I just swap the motors? Would this make any difference to the 501 internals? And lastly would the cfm be around 12?

Don't know that much about Hydrovanes, hence the questions

not something i would do, i had one of those fantastic compressor it will last you a lifetime and will hold its value, highly recommended.

The 501 can be uprated to double the output by just changing the motor to a 2.2kw unit that runs at twice the speed. It's something I'll be doing to mine.

So is 2.2kW the maximum you can goto then on a 501?

How efficient are these units, i.e. if upgraded to a 2.2kw motor could you use it for paint spraying if coupled with a 200L receiver?

Yes 2.2 KW is the maximum. They do like continuous duty though, they are designed for it.
So as long as the total air demand is under the maximum output then it will be fine, even with a 200 ltr receiver.
