Hydrovane 8CFM FAD at 10bar

Anyone with experience of the Hydrovane compressors. Specially the HO2 which is the 75l receiver 3HP unit. Single phase. Claims 8CFM free air delivery at 10bar.

I need something to run drills, cut off tool, rattle gun and my small blast cabinet.

Just home workshop stuff but wanting something quiet and this is 64db which is about the same as a washing machine.

8cfm is not gonna run a blast cabinet, at least 23cfm, 40 would be better I have been trying this for ages, have a 15cfm clark now with 6hp honda still not really enough.
I personally am leaning towards a 40cfm pump with a 13hp diesel and running on red.
If your electric you need 3 phase power and around 10hp motor.
Blasting takes so much air it's unbelievable. You can do it with less cfm but have to keep stopping all the time.

I think you are misinterpreting my blast cabinet requirements. I have the the little clark blast cabinet that my current compressor at 8cfm does fine for my needs. Its just really noisy. I am looking at the hydrovane as its quiet but wanted to make sure it actually delivered what it claimed.

There is mo way I am going down the diesel or 3 phase route for blasting bits of motorbike!!

Surely it must be painful blasting with such a small amount of air.

I am getting the HV02 which has a 75l receiver. I also have a separate 60l receiver as well. So 138l on the low pressure side. However I also have a 10cfm at 350bar 3 stage diving compressor that fills a 350bar air bank. Running from this into the gas blending panel that drives that gas booster I have a pressure reducer system that feeds into the 60l receiver as well. This gives me 20,000l of free air on tap should it be needed.

The reason I am getting the hydrovane is for noise, I cant work in the same room as the diving compressor its that loud!! So if I do need extra air I have it on tap.

But my blast requirements are tiny, I clean bits of motorbike like hubs, callipers, fasteners etc and they are all 5 minute jobs. When I have big stuff like whole frames then I have a friend who is a commercial bead blaster and does all that stuff for me.

My main use of tools is the drills, rattle guns etc and an air feed for the plasma. I also do some small scale spraying of bike parts, frames, engines etc.

A small point to note here, the figures your quoting for they Hydrovane are free air delivery (ie. the output of the compressor at a given pressure) but the figures being Quoted for the clarke are displacement (ie. input- the amount of air it sucks in)

A common trick of salesmen is to quote displacement as it sounds better.

I have a 3hp Hydrovane ( I think mines a 502, basically the same thing as yours) and it powers all my tools fine, including a 10 gallon pressure blaster, though I don't use it constantly.

I have a Hydrovane 502 too. It is definately 8cfm FAD at 10bar (I didn't believe it so I measured it). It runs all the tools fine and a blast pot but with the pot you do have to stop occasionally to let it recharge. The real benefits of the hydrovane are the noise and the fact it is 100% duty cycle so there is no waiting for it to cool down every ten minutes. It will need either a very short cable run if using a 13A plug or a 16A supply if you are using more than a metre or so of power cable.

I have bought a PCL drop filter as well allegedly removes 99.999% water and contaminants to .5 micron.

I have a single phase Hydrovane - not sure of model but it is the biggest single phase one they do so sounds like yours. Certainly ok for all my normal air tools, and for sporadic use in my Blast cabinet. If I'm doing a long & big session with the cabinet I have a road compressor outside the workshop, and a lug type coupling and valve plumbed to my air 'ring main' which makes it far more productive. My Hydrovane is housed out of the workshop in a Portakabin, as although not as noisy as a piston type, they wouldn't be appreciated in your local library

they all remove a lot of water when the air is cold. when it warms up along the line the moist air passes through the filter then condenses further up the line i generaly use 2 one on the tank and another near the end of the line as close as possible to whatever tool or spraygun u use
