Hydrovane air end

Hi All,

Any idea where I can get a refurbished or second hand vane compressor air end from? By air end I mean the air pump section on its own.

Thanks for the lead. I want to make a vane compressor by taking the existing recip pump off mine and rearranging the motor to drive the vane pump. This is to make it quieter and all the other benefits.

I'm certain I could do it, I just need to find a pump first.

for the cost/hassle etc.. you might as well buy a second hand hydrovane and sell your compressor ?

Trying to find a second hand hydrovane at a decent cost is the issue. Also, I live in the Highlands and they tend to be down south. So going to collect one would cost ad much as buying it.

Rather be proactive and come up with a built solution.

u haven't stated what size pump and what flange mounted motor u are going to use . how many horsepower

there's a few complete ones on ebay 240v there fetching big money. id think u would struggle to get a pump unit on its own

I'm starting to realise that. The big money hydrovane units on eBay are also too far to contemplate collecting for me.

Just have to keep my eyes peeled for a unit that's being broken down for spares.

That's an idea that has crossed my mind. I saw and heard Doubleboosts hydrovane though.

I bought a nasty one recently (ebay). Impeller and coupling were smashed (not as described). I stripped it right down and bought the parts for a service rebuild, seller refunded the cost of parts. At the end of it I finally got my working compressor, but also with a full service (although at cost of my time).

All the reports suggest they are great machines which can give many years of life, but only if looked after and serviced properly. They don't like being abused/neglected.

they definatly need there matance altho its not much but but ignoe it and the bite but they also need to be worked i think, i dont think been stood idel dose them any good at all
