Hydrovane HV02 problem..

A couple of years ago I got this compressor. It was broken when I got it and it's still broken now.. but I didn't pay much for it so I don't mind. I would however like it to work!

The problem as far as I can tell is most likely an electrical fault.. though I say this with no confidence at all. Basically when you plug it in and try to switch it on nothing happens. If you do so in absolute silence you can hear a little "click" coming from the machine. I remember when I first got it I read somewhere that they have like an emergency shut off type thing to do with the pressure.. and that this can sometimes get jammed up? Could be that?

Just thought I would see if anyone had any ideas?

First check will the motor / pump turn by hand?
IF it does then, remove the piug and inspect the electrics, particularly where you heard the click, it could simply be burnt contacts.

Hmmm.. I have literally got no idea where to start with this thing! I will have a look at it tomorrow and see if I can figure out how to turn the pump. It isn't shaped like any of the smaller compressors I have used in the past which have obvious, exposed moving parts. I hope it's not all mashed up inside as I really want to get some wind tools!

I have the same compressor, it's a vane compressor not a piston. They have an over pressure switch on them that can go wrong. They are a superb compressor and very quiet but do require careful use including making sure they get hot enough to burn of the moisture or you will mayonnaise the oil and knacker it.

Yeah I think I read that someplace about the pressure switch! Tried switching it on the other day and it didn't make any noise whatsoever which is disconcerting haha. I hope it's not mayonaised! Got a massive rebuild on at work for the next few weeks so won't have a chance to mess with the compressor. I might try and find a company that repairs them or something!
