Hallo people. Well it turns out my first post is not about welding but my trusty compressor, a Compair Hydrovane 502.
I noticed today that the oil sight glass was a pink opaque colour. Undid the filler plug and the oil is like strawberry mousse. Arrgghh. Disconnected everything. Clearly water is mixed with the oil. (I'm actually not surprised, the garage has been at about 80-90% humidity for months.) I'm really hoping it has not mullard the lantern. At this point all I know is it pressurised the tank just fine the last time I used it (about a week ago)
So first I need to drain, and I can leave it draining as long as necessary. Part of the problem is I don't have a frequent demand for air and it's not used enough. Can anyone recommend what I do next? Is there a cheap 'flushing' oil I can use before refilling? And do you recommend the Hydrovane 2000 hour fluid when refilling, or can I use something like Air Force 2000? Any other pointers gratefully received, I'm technically competent but (clearly) no expert on compressors.
