Hydrovane

Been offered a hydrovane but it has vapour coming from it after being run, it's low hours and apart from that good condition.

Anyone know what could be wrong ?

What kind of vapour and where's it coming from? What model and how old? There was a resident Hydrovane person, gary900r, but he's not posted in a while.

as in water vapour or oil and where from outlet pipe??

He says he thinks it's coming from the seperator, so I take it thats the oil seperator it's a 18.5kw 110cfm 128 puas model.

Reason I'm asking is I am upgrading my blasting gear to pro stuff so I have got a 500ltr upright cylinder a dryer and next up is the compressor, I need big cfm to run the pot and this hydro is good for what I need.

But I have also been offered a ingersoll rand screw ssr ml7.5 which is 15 bar max both are around the same price but I'm not sure of the crm of the ingersoll.

You could do with knowing the service history/ hours run on the screw. They need a major overhaul at, I think, 20000 or 50000 hours. We trashed a 50kw and a 180kw machine at work missing these.

Both units are just under 6000 hours, do you think that screw compressor is up to the job ? I need to get 80cfm plus from a machine

ML7.5 will be approx 40cfm.
Hydrovane 128 would need to know which version of this machine and where the vapour is coming from There are several seals which can allow oil vapour to escape when the machine is venting down after stopping. Most are minor repairs but one can be expensive.

Ok just spoke to the guy he states the vapour is when the machine has shut off, I can try and get a model number but he has only given me 128 PUAS 18.5KW 110 CFM

If you can get the serial no I can log on to the Hydrovane dealers website and check exactly which version it is. As long as its not one of the early versions it probably is not much to worry about. Do you know the service history?
