Hyundai HY 3000Sel HX14 inverter generator ..Help/. advice needed .

Towards the end of the recent storms my trusty 10 yr old Hyundai HY 3000Sel HX14 inverter suitcase generator ( in a stout weather proof ply 360 degree locking castored case ) decided not to play on the electric start at 19.15 hrs. whilst it pee'd down in stair rod style rain .. no problem .... use the pull start , it started with ease on less than 1/3 of the pull cord .

Later on I stopped it before it ran out of fuel to check the oil and to refill the tank & check every thing is looking OK , it restarted with ease once again . Did the same again at 22.30 ready for the next morning without power and it failed to pull over easily & wouldn't fire up or start . Plenty of clean oil showing on the dipstick but a slight whiff of melted plastic met me when I opened the carb side panel . So I used a customers newly repaired genny instead . " Load testing Sir ........honest!

Fully cool the next morning , the genny was still almost as tight to try and pull over even with then spark plug removed .

OK......... things need stripping to check it's not a problem with the starter motor , the pull start recoil stuff or even worse the engine or generator .

I got the hand book out , no info on stripping the two halves of the plastic case .
Couldn't find any You Tube videos showing things like that either .

Have any of you guys or gals successfully split the casings and worked on such a suitcase genny , if so would you tell me what you did after draining off the oil & emptying the fuel tank please ? .

I took my little impax inverter apart due to a fuel leak from degraded petrol hose.

Can you see a parting line in the case ? Mine had screws behine some stickers and clip in badges. Are there any holes that need a probe pushed in to unclip the halves ?

I had a play this afternoon . The halves are well defined & loose now I have taken out half a dozen fixings they should split & come off ,
This afternoon I also drained off the fuel and fitted the sump drain tube ready for draining the oil tomorrow afternoon.

The big problem I have is the suitcase genny weight is about 45 kg and whilst each shell is unbolted along the seams , the base has four 5- mm dia steel rubber & feet screwed through both halves of the case shell into the the steel chassis .
I'm 80 % disabled , cannot lift much with my left shoulder joint being wrecked or both hands as well as having tripple back injury problems .

So I'll have got to come up with some idea for lifting further & rotating the now raised to 1mtr high case and gently rotate it so it lays on one side ( pull start ) then extract the top two feet remove the oil drain tube and refit the filler plug then flip it back 180% to remove the remaining two rubber feet and lift of the pull start side
Thought of turning gup a knuckled bar to fit the spark plug hole and one to fit the oil filler hole as they are almost diametrically opposite on opposite sides of the suitcase then make a threaded bar & nut adjustable centre of gravity adjuster ( like some of the guys have done & posted on here for engine lifting , I have a 1.5 ton come along cable puller and can set up a strong steel support bar across two 9 inch floor joists that should be able support an estimated two ton load upon the mancupboard's small overcoft

Its a lot bigger than mine then ! Sorry to hear about your lack of mobility, MiL is in the same boat with both knees and shoulders, and I am getting like it slowly.

Be careful when you split the halves. If is like mine, it seems it is designed for all the gubbins to lay flat in one half while it is assembled, and you won't know until you get it apart. I guessed wrong and it mostly fell out, but luckily no harm done.

I found that all the inverter circuitry was embedded in potting compound, so impossible to work on, even if I did know anything about electronics !
