I inherited a Clarke compressor

I have inherited a Clarke compressor. I am looking at rebuilding it as a project, however the model number on the data plate is, i think SE18C16 OR 160. Is this the model of the pump as i need to order bearings and shells for the pump.

It also needs a new capacitor housing, but it only has 1 x Capacitor where i thought it would have 2. Is this normal.

It depends on which motor is fitted, some only require one to work correctly. If it has a data plate on the motor it may help but the information may have been in the housing that’s missing. Any loose wires?

HI Carbon, Thanks for the reply, no loose wires, motor runs fine, i think the problem with the pump starting was the pump itself, bearings etc. With belt of the motor gives no problem. I have added the data plate for the pump. It only gives capacitor details for one capacitor.

From that plate it just shows one 55uf capacitor.

Thanks Chris, do you know from the data plate of the compressor i posted if that is the model number of the pump, I would like to order parts

ok just looked at mine in fact two connected together but both of mine have 2 capacitors so either mine or yours is not original

also is your motor 3hp or 4hp

At full load it may be a bit much for a 13 amp fuse as it shows 13.8 amps, but it would be better on a 16 amp plug.

The first picture will just be the model number, unlikely to be for the pump.

It does look like this is a clarke motor so could be original

Not sure Dan, i will investigate further but as you can see the data plate is well worn.

I Will have another look at the plate on the motor. Any idea how i find out the model of the pump.

Take a photo of the whole thing. E-mail Clarke with it. Ask the question. I've always found the people on the other end of phone very helpful

I believe Clarke used to have parts manuals available to download but seems it’s just product manuals now. Contacting clarke may get the correct parts required.

just looked again at mine which are 4 hp but there are probably different versions
