One of the surprising challenges with my buggy build has been finding a suitable airbox. Most airboxes have complex shapes designed to custom fit their engine bay, making them a poor fit in any other car. I tried universal airboxes but they were poor quality. I tried plant airboxes but they are over sized and not sealed on the intake side making them useless for a snorkel. In the end I decided to make my own using a simple design.
I went to https://size.name/en/catalog/filter_kruglyj and found a filter that suits my 1.6l engine. I had the parts laser cut by an ebay seller to save me hours of machining. I'm happy with the outcome, though wish I had an AC welder to have made it from aluminium.
Sharing in case the design is useful for anyone.
