I know it's a bad thing to do but I weaved it's pretty tho I also did a multiple run left handed over head amps are 120 ish I need a digital welder there is a vertical stringer lo hi 2.5 run in at 7o ish amps
Advice alway welcome as always
It's all vertical I don't really do flat much these days

Awl I thought that was perdy to be fair it's the best weave I've ever done my multiple runs I can get them perfect if I use my right hand but sadly where I stuck the support to I could not get a at all view on it so left handed it was or had to be

Welding is all about rhythm the sound smell and feel pal just practice on flat plate get your arc control and then try other things slowly! Don't listen to over analysing people on here mate 2.5 80 to 85 amps and get a repetitive bead 6013 rutile rod

Cheers mate for that it's held four tonne of num nuts shaking through the bucket for the whole week I use 6013 rods just not on that as it needed to be able to take abuse ill post a pick of flat and v up on some plate I can usually get it perfect on the ideal situation its just sadly the jobs are never ideal situation im striving to better then a local welder who sadly passed a few years ago but that bloke could weld

David, weaving in a v up position can be a perfectly acceptable way of mma welding. It tends to help with keeping the fluid metal under control from falling back. Some guys do the Xmas tree effect some add a brief amount of dwel time on either side to add fill where undercut is likely. I find a little weave (no wider than the rod diameter) with a second pause on each side to ensure good fill and side wall fusion is my method. I cannot make a decent job with the whole Xmas tree thing but some guys can do it lovely. Important thing is angle. It's a pushing angle upwards. Probably 15 degrees roughly for me. Regard you pic I don't think it looks too bad. Perhaps a little wide for my liking but you've got no slag traps, undercut and the metal is sitting quite flat so a decent effort if you ask me.

I only ever used to weave on v up welds, used to use a zig zag pattern and hold on the edges for a second then whip over and hold again etc.

See I only stopped weaving because people seem to slate the weave stringers or weaves I'm not fussed. But is the rule still 2 /1.5 rod diameter weave size

Time and a place mate. Weaving is a bad habit that some welders get in to and adopt it for all welds in all positions. I never weave unless going up and even in some cases going up I won't. It doesn't bring any benefits to the table in a joining world. In a cladding/overlay world it does.

I was always told that you should only weave if you are trying to fill a gap, covering a root pass in one go or you are traveling uphill and can't control the puddle with a straight stringer.

Personally I find it much easier to weave uphill with stick and mig and try not to weave at all on any other joint although I have done with mig occasionally when I was learning as I thought a bigger weld was a stronger weld even though I was only using a 100 amp gasless.

Well boys and girls I've never used these rods before its some scrap from me back garden but here's some photos see what you think its a 6013 rods fin cord ran nice the supercito did not feel right at the moment

Here's a few flat truth be told I struggled with the lo hi for some reason and I've not ran flat plate welds for a few years rods on top were 6013s but it did feel weird as well
