This site gives benchmark scores for cpu's, does show an increase but as already said probably not noticable in everyday use.

The I5 you have only has a max memory speed of 1333 whereas the I7 you are looking at has a max memory speed of 1600 although this will only make a difference if your memory runs at 1600.
Crucial CT102464BD160B averages £20 for 8gb modules on Evilbay if your memory doesn't run at 1600.
£60 is a decent price for a 3770K but it's only really worth the change if you have 1600 memory already or you will need to pay out a further £80 to capitalise on the upgrade.

These are both obsolete platforms in my opinion. The 2500k is better than the A10-7800.
If the 2500k and GTX970 performs well enough then I would stick with it, it would be difficult to justify £60 for a i7-3770k when a i3-12100f is £95 and offers modern performance and capabilities, would need a complete new system though.

Well the guy was messing me around with the i7 . Reckons he had 4 or 5 people who wanted it so upped the price to 80 quid so I went for some chips instead..lol

Yes, older hardware is useful and can be fun to play with. In its day that was a good CPU, but 10 generations later it's a toy or for someone who needs an exact replacement
£80 gets you a CPU/motherboard/ram combo from eBay or AliExpress
