Identify compressor

Hi,

Picked this up cheap but needs a motor, previous owner tells me the motor fitted is not the correct one. I'm trying to identify the pump so I can find out the speed to spin it and the horsepower required. Also would be good to know the CFM.

Other than its made by Atlas Copco I can't find any info. So hoping someone on here recognises it or can suggest a source of info.

Motor fitted is 3 phase, I only have single phase. I was told by previous owner that its way to big for the compressor and it maybe the wrong speed, its just one he had lying around. So I'm trying to find what speed to spin the pump at and what hp so I can source an single phase motor.

Looked on Atlas Copco website but can't find anything there, possibly to old.

get a 3 hp motor 1400 rpm the pulley looks about the rite size

you wont find anything on it on that site as you said its far too old .
you will have to email them with the picture of the pump and ask for information

Brightspark, how did you arive at 3HP 1400rpm? Not questioning your knowledge, just wondering. Is there some "rule of thumb" for this.

by the size of the pump thats fitted and the size of the pulley also old pumps run on 1400 rpm motors not 2800 like the new ones. ive built enough of them

Size currently fitted is 7.5KW! I don't think (hope) it needs to be that big.

I will go for the 3HP 1400rpm as suggested by Brightspark.

looking at the size of the compressor you will probably have problems running a 3 hp motor as most atlas twins were 5 hp min.

my atlas copco KT has 15 hp 3 phase motor and that's a V twin, a be it the next size up.

these compressors are full on industrial not micky mouse machine mart rubbish and if possible stick with 3 phase as they start and preform much better than single phase rubbish..

ps. for the air intake on the compressor use top quality air / fuel filters as found on diesel engines ,that way the compressor will preform almost for ever.

Identify hydrovane

Hi can anyone identify this hydrovane compressor i just got shafted trying to buy a model 15 and this one is next on my list
