It looks like a Ford side valve head, I'm not sure whether it's 100E or earlier.

I think you could well be correct - the photo of the other side of the engine clearly shows the distributor on top of the head as pointed out by "Ton-up" in previous comments.After a bit more research, I think it's a pre war Hillman side valve head. It's difficult to find a conclusive photo of one, the best I can find is this -
