Immersion suit reproofing products

I've a Fladen suit that could do with reproofing. Are there any stand out products or is just whatever Nikwax will sell me.

I use Nikwax cleaner and water proofer. It does a decent job. You used to get free pouches of nikwax if you answered questions on their website! I believe Diver Dave waterproofing is good too, Ive never used it.

Reproofing how?

For beading water on the outside of GoreTex surface immersion suits, using TechWash, drip drying, then applying Nikwax as a spray whilst it's still slight damp works best.

For non-breathable fabric or Ventile Cotton suits, grangers fabsil is a better water repellent but check it's compatible first.

If it's actually letting water in, patching with a suitable waterproof fabric, using Bostik 2402 is the only effective solution, and it's a life extension at best. For very small patches of delamination or seam failure mcnett aquasure.

I don't know if it's letting water in. I use when working outside in grotty weather and when I take it off it's very damp inside, that might be water coming in or it might be me soaking it from the inside.

It's ex fishfarm and might have been binned for a good reason.

If it's not breathable fabric, it may just be getting damp due to condensed sweat (a delightful thought!), my non-breathable suit I used for rafting and water rescue work was like that, despite being bone dry on immersion or pressure test.

If it is leaking in a non-obvious way then it will probably be from a seam, or through a delaminating section in a panel of a high friction area (underarms, groin, knees, chest, and inner forearms)

If you don't need it to be fully immersion proof, and are using as a step up from waterproof coveralls so you don't get water running down your arms and neck, then Nikwax or Fabsil will probably do an acceptable job for a few months at least.

Sounds like it’s sweating. A good clean and reproof should sort it.

The joys of some water proofs (not saying these are one or the other) the amount of times I have been soaked from the inside out while working in the rain is incredible
