Improved project Hacksaw

Ref my earlier posting I've managed to finish off the last few pieces of work on my hacksaw project.. Now got a couple of positions located on the crossbar of the hacksaw to allow positioning of weight as req.. Also fitted a six mm plate onto bench to give me the ability to have a level work surface for my drill clamp I've also marked out angles and made it so the drill press can easily rotate to allow accurate mitre cuts.. I got a trend digital level and angle finder to help do this which was superb.. It was also brilliant for getting the blade spot on verticaly too..

Everything, the hacksaw mounts, the motor and the drill press are mounted through the worktop and threaded into some 70x70mm box section to give it good stability and ridgidity ...

Just wish I had a nice little milling machine now, the number of times I've needed to cut accurate slots and had to struggle to do it by hand..

Are you cutting on the push stroke or pull stroke?

Ideally you want to cut against the fixed jaw of your vice

that should be cutting on the forward stroke as the blade is rising up and lowering on the return. as above best have the saw cutting against the fixed jaw of vice but not always possible

On the push stroke as per the arrow on the blade, (which is prob difficult to see in vid) it's prob due to the end of its forward stroke finishing and the reverse stroke starting .. If critical could do with another weight on the front.. It took 15 mins to cut this beautifully, whilst I filmed it and kicked back with a cup of Rosie supplied by Mrs Noodles..

u could weight it further but slow the speed down more and it will cut faster

That's exactly what you need to do noods. You also could do with various tooth pitch blades
A lump like that wants less teeth/inch and a finer pitch for small stuff.
I would be looking to see if you can give it some different speeds and add pressure by weight when needed

MTe I've said it before.. I can slow it to snail pace or make it go so fast it will rip the bench out! It's on an inverter.. Hence I can run as fast or slow as I like.. Yeah got more weights I can put on .. Will have to get some of those blades you suggested .. X

Sorry mate yes I remember you saying it was on an inverter.
Nice one on the corse blades. That will help a lot.
