Hi
I'm bringing a Hydrovane 502 back to life and yesterday evening got the compressor running well, apart from one important glitch.
The 502 runs exactly as expected - the low pressure valve opens at about 5 bar allowing pressurised air out to the receiver. The receiver is pressurised to about 10 bar (in about 4 minutes, so bang on with the expected 8 to 9 cfm delivery) and the motor switches off.
Then there's a horrible gurgling noise and oil drips out from the inlet.
I've spoken on several occasions to a really helpful guy at Compair and we're both agreed that the problem is almost certainly the inlet valve failing to close and allowing air back through the compressor.
I have full parts lists and service manuals but there are no details about how to replace the inlet valve.
It looks like it should come out when the circlip is removed (from the inlet end).
Does anyone have any experience of fixing this?
Thanks in advance
Jim
