Installing 32 amp commando socket

Hello, apologies if this has been asked many times before.
I wish to install a 32 amp commando socket.
Is it as simple as fitting a 32amp D breaker in the consumer unit and running some twin core and earth to the socket location?
What size twin core and earth?
It is to supply my new Oxford 330 mig welder.

Obviously a qualified spark would be doing the job but they would use 6mm2 depending on distance from consumer unit ..or so I'm told.

6mm2 and your pretty much covered, 4mm2 on a short may suffice, but cover your bum and go for 6mm2, in my unreliable opinion, the mcb protects the cabling, ask @brightspark he's your man.

dont be fitting a d type breaker fit a c type 4.0mm is ok depending on length but 6.0mm isnt much more and will well cover

I used 6mm cable for my 32 amp socket. I used a rubber cable since it was outside for a bit. Hi-Tuff cable is also an option. Don't think I would use twin and earth for this application unless it's all hidden between floor joists etc but that's just my personal preference.

Do make sure to protect the cable where exposed within reach. I used a 25mm conduit.

Without being awkward, it depends a lot on the location of the socket and the environment the cable will be installed in. For example, is it going to be inside, outside, clipped, run in conduit, in an insulated wall.
We are assuming, but really we need a bit more information to confirm.

As above, you won't need or want a D curve, C curve would be fine. Maybe even get away with a B curve, but these transformer sets have quite a bit of in-rush, so C would be better.

Hello, the set is fully indoors, an oak framed garage. Cables will be tacked to the frame, total length from the consumer board including rise and drop is 5 metres. Just one central socket, with the machine lead and 4m mig lead I can reach almost anywhere. Or move the mountain to Mohammed.
