Hi all , thanks for advice .Moved to Ireland four years ago ,was a tree surgeon ,not many trees here so been planting loads , not much call for chain saws yet .Multi skilled so been doin bits n bobs,hadnt tried welding though,anyway living by the sea rots metal fast as you know.Had a call to weld an aframe on a trailer said yes bought an arc welder and got welding book from libary.Two weeks later left the barn a welder.Did the job which also included new axel.It got towed were it had to after a sleepless night.Got praised by an old hand .Done lots of cars since but the welder only goes to 30amps and thin body work is a challenge !Drove here in a Dodge 75 Jap Six which i rebuilt from the ground up and now needs welding . So gas mig it is with arc for the big stuff. I hope to get a portamig.I will get some pics of the Dodge progress.The gallery has some fine creations,I want to do some sculptures to as theres loads of scrap here and im a Womble.

I forgot to ask you what part of Ireland you live in. And I'm not sure what a Womble is
sounds a bit Irish that story about how you became a welder

Hi scarecrow,im near Dingle, what about you? wombles was a kids programe in England about small creatures that collected humans rubbish on Wimbledon Common and made usefull stuff out of it.Lived on others rubbish most me life,best skips are near the cities though,thiner pickings here.But there is what floats in on the Atlantic.Hows your dog gettin on?

im up in north tipp. The dog is doing okay he's back to the vet on Thursday they should be able to put a cast on by then no infection so far so things aren't looking to bad.

Glad your dogs ok , did you say he was on anti biotics?if so when they are finished get some Echinacea Tincture , Organic best.This helps imune system and recovery after operation , you can add a dose to water . get profesional advise as to amount for size of dog etc. Also Comfrey cream to help the bones fix .Theres loads on the web about it , ive used it for years on damaged bones.

I found excellent junk in the hedgerows and on the beaches in W Cork and dragged it all home and made 'Drought Victim' ....

Glad to hear your dog is on the mend Scarecrow, what sort of a b@rstard would do such a thing. In terms of first aid I always keep arnica and rescue remedy (Bach Flower) handy for me and the dogs. Both are good for shock and trauma and arnica also good for bruising (and jet lag!).

Nice one, Drought Victim excellent ,the pics of the Black Bitch as well , you have an eye for it .Is that your workshop in the pics?Im renting a 3 hundred year old stone barn,loads of history,leaky roof and ghosts ,loads of names scratched in the lime render on the walls .Earth floor and swallows in the rafters.They gone now,theyre the smart ones off to Africa.There are loads of medicinal herbs in the old stone walls here, which sadley most of the locals dont know about any more. lost knowledge.Maybe burning the wise women had something to do with it,same the world over.!!!!!!!
