Is anybody able to turn an M26 thread for me?

I'm looking to have a thread cut onto the inside of the shaft on my bench vice. My plan is to install a cap on the end to increase the friction on the handle. OCD, but that's me.

Can anybody cut an M26x1.5mm thread into the inner face of the tube for me?

What's the OD and length of the shaft, for starters? A lot of the smaller lathes won't have much more than 1" spindle bore... also, how far in does the thread need to go? Internal threading tools are like boring bars, the smaller the diameter they'll enter, the shorter they are as well.

OD is 40mm and the thread only needs to extend 12mm into the tube. The tube is 260mm long and 31mm Dia where it would need to fit through the spindle bore

I’d need to mount it in a lathe to keep it square for a tap that size. I don’t have a lathe.

For what you are doing you'd be fine.

John you use a 63T gear don’t you? Could it be that you need to use a 127T?

I need to poach the 127t gear off one of my customers L5A but I’d have to replace it with a 100T or a 120T to get them back on the right track for imperial threads.
