Hi
I purchased a Wolf Dakota compressor last November for working on a car I have been restoring. I have only ever used it for light use and had not used it for 6-8 weeks before last night. I fired it up and it was running for quite some time but never went over 30PSI, I felt the compressor and it was very hot, so I switched it of.
I had always checked the oil level before using it and the oil was always to the top of the fill hole. I decided this morning to carry out an oil change to see if that made any difference and it didn't (there was plenty of oil in it when I removed the fill level indicator)
On reading the manual, the only thing that would appear that I have never done properly was screw the oil breather pipe in tightly. This was because it would never tighten as the breather "pip" bit had a smaller diameter/ thread than the one it was screwed into.
I have contacted the company I purchased it from as I assume it is under warranty- I am trying to ascertain if it is a common problem, or are they likely to sday I am at fault form some reason (even though I have followed the recomended maintenance procedures)
I have tried searching for parts in case it is dead and they refuse to accept liability, but I cannot find any suppliers anywhere? (I am aware that Wolf are no longer in existence)
Regards
Steve
