is my trip now over sensitive

My question is does anyone have experience of these trips becoming extra sensitive?

I am talking about the round button on the side of a black box on the compressor but not the red pull on and push off button. The trip is rated at 12amps

it is a Sealey 50litre direct drive compressor which starts ok and gets up to 80psi or so and then the trip goes

I reset the trip and then it carries on up to the rated pressure so I think the unloader is working ok

I monitored the current and when it is running it takes 10.5 to 10.7 amps and is drawing this when the trip goes

I can't say for sure there will be some one along soon to confirm but I do know mcbs in your fuseboard can get that way when there older so I'm sure this can as well

I had to change the MCB on my Consumer Unit as my saw kept tripping it. Changed from a Type B to a Type C problem solved.

no, I have had the compressor for a few years and nothing electrical or physical has changed over the last few years so this is a change from the norm

Yes they can weaken with age.

rtbcomp is dead right...after a couple of false trip out I disconect em.........MAKING sure the correct size fuse is used..........
these trip resets are used a lot on reel extension cables........to keep cost down they just about work to get thru eu regs..........

makes sense but I will probably replace as it is useful in the winter when its cold and I forget and try and start the compressor. Much easier to reset the trip than replace the fuse in the plug

Of course if I put it on a 16a circuit and bridged the trip the damn thing would probably start no matter what the weather

Completely misunderstood the title 'is my trip over sensitive' I was expecting some emotional issues to be discussed.
