is propane enough

is propane enough to heat and ben flat bar up to 8mm thick and around 40mm wide?

I know using oxy aswell will heat it up a lot quicker but can it be done just using propane?

Yup, as long as the nozzle is big enough.

u can get away with using a propane torch as long as u pack some fire bricks or some.broken up soft grey breeze.blocks round the job to retain the heat

that wont be an option for some of the stuff as its too big and I don't have any fire bricks. will just stick to mixing with oxy

x2 breeze blocks dont cost the earth, its not what your using but how you use it. Propane in a gas forge will get steel hot enough to hammer weld.

Ah sorry, misunderstood. You will need to make a furnace or some sort of container to keep the heat in asdescribed above if you don't want to use oxy.
