Is this a forge blower?

I've just been given a 1hp blower, I'm guessing it's from a forge? What do you think??

Look a little big for a blacksmiths type forge, Its not from a Tata Steel Blast Furnace is it ??

1hp, a motor of that size would push a lot of air flow for a forge, wouldn't have thought so, unless from one of an industrial scale

I was going to say no idea.
But I used to work for BVC and it looks like a vacuum cleaner to me.

Just read the above posts, it's small, bvc made big vacuum cleaners
I used to drill holes in castings over 3 feet in diameter.

You may be right, I've just run it up - it's like a miniature hurricane! Not so useful.

Ok just realised that I've done some work for BVC in the past, Its a really good quality multistage pressure blower that can be used for a range of different applications. Quite commonly used to provide air for aeration tanks at sewage farms and sludge tanks etc. Some also used to blow up inflatable buildings used by emergency services etc. Its a good quality bit of kit with spares readily available

That's handy, although I don't think that I have a great deal of use for it at the moment!

No good as a dust extract system. Useful though if you want to venture out into bouncy castle hire

Forges like a lot of air at low pressure. I had an axminster 3/4 hp extractor fan running mine, and it wasn't a massive forge either. It worked very well, the only problem was the NOISE!
