Is this normal?

I've recently upgraded my Hydrovane compressor to a higher cfm by fitting a faster motor. I'm told this should be ok providing I don't try and run it without a tank.

It seems to work fine and produces a lot more air but the water in the tank has increased (maybe not a surprise?) turned yellow and smells like strong cherry cola!

I serviced the pump end at the same time as upgrading the motor, replacing the oil, filters and o rings. It hasn't used any oil and the water coming out isn't milky.



The water in the tank wasn't like this before I changed the motor/did the service. Is this just the result of the increase in speed/heat? Or maybe something else?

Is the air end rated for the speed increase? It looks like your chucking oil past the separator.

looks like pumps over speeding..i have tried this rpm increase thing with piston type pumps and all it does is give problems,no such thing as a free lunch in anything made to run faster for more perfomance

I took the end cover off and swapped the oil filter/separator for the old one. The new one wasn’t in that tight either. Hopefully that’s all it is.
I believe both the 5 and 15 models are exactly the same apart from the size of the motor.
