well im going to be spending a nice chunk of cash on my 1st proper air comp and this sip compressor seems to be the best (highest cfm) i can run with single phase power supply http://www.jebbtools.ie/.270-Ltr-Compressor-SIP-Airmate-B2800-270_05247.htm , dose it seem like a good buy, good price? the one thing i really dont want is to not be able to use a tool after spending so much ,but 14cfm seems good, and the shop is local to me

The highest CFM single phase compressors are fitted with dual motors and compressor pumps. Not cheap, but if you only have single phase and want to use air tools such as DA sanders seriously, then the dual motor 240v compressors seem the only realistic way to do this.
What air tools will you be using ? You should check that the air output spec is FAD, free air delivered, and at what pressure. Without that 14 CFM is meaningless.

Personally I'd be looking at buying a good, used compressor off ebay, you can save hundreds and get a bargain. There is always a good selection of compressors of this sort of spec.

FAD is the actual air a compressor will deliver at a given pressure. Any other figure is just the displacement of the compressor unit, like the cubic capacity of an engine.
DA's are high consumption, continuous demand tools and place the highest demand on a compressor, grinders and drills are other examples. 3 HP is about the minimum for this type of tool, although many users do find it will cope ok.

There is a place in bray co.wicklow that i believe stocks a fair bit of the machine mart tools , i have been meaning to go out and get a cross vice for my drill. A friend of mine told me about it , i'll find out details and post them.
It's sometimes not a bad idea to have an ask at tools suppliers like cromwell tools. Even if it's something they don't stock or list, they can often get things at very decent prices. Many of these bigger co's have good contacts all across the spectrum and can get pretty much anything, often at sensible rates and cuts out things like delivery costs.
I have done this several times throughout my working life when sometimes delivery costs have been horrendous and has always worked out well.
Its worth a shout you have nothing to lose.
