ive broke my mate compressor help me out

Hi all ive used my mates compressor and its not running right know so need some help.
So my set up is a spray room with two inlet fans and one 12" extraction fan.
An air fed mask and a three stage filter plumb in copper line with a inline water trap filter to.
So had my mates compressor out side plumbed in to my air line to my mask painted half my car then the alarm on my mask went off .
So check all lines and the compressor out side . And it was just running on and on and seem hot . so painted the rest off car and stopped the compressor as it was not stopping at 150 bar so it could cool down .
Then when i tried to start the compressor up again it would not run.

All i have done to the compressor is to build a frame round it and put a 1/2 oil drum on as a roof to stop any rain with plenty off gap for air . its in my trailer and then i poped a tarp over with front and back open to let air through.

sounds as if pressure switch might be stuck/not working, and has he relief valve "dumped"
if it hasnt it might be stopping the motor trying to turn the pump. Is there any air in the receiver?? Can you turn the motor/pump by hand using the motor pully??

No the relief valve did not dump as we switch off at 155 bar as my mate said it cuts out at 150 then it would not start up after .
can they over heat and would my home maid roof have done this
You say the pressure switch might be stuck i tack it that's the on of switch with the bar / psi dial on it.

the pressure switch will be in between the pump and the tank, when the tank hits 150 the pressure switch kills the motor until the tank has dropped below a certain pressure again and it starts the motor again.

if it is stuck, it will not kill the motor at 150, so the motor will keep going and this could possibly have caused it to overheat.

have you tried draining the tank and leaving the motor to cool for half hour then trying again?

so people know what type of compressor it is
and then they can direct you to the appropriate bits to check

its the black bit with the doodah sticking out of it and the gerzonta on the top

Must have used it to fill divers bottles, 150 Bar-its only about 2175 PSI.

what make of compressor please or a pic will do,
if the dump valve didnt let the air out, then the pump is trying to start against any pressure you have in the tank, Drain the tank and retry.And check it didnt blow any fuses refusing to start

Did you by any chance check the oil in the compressor before you gave it some graft to do.

I have a 3 litre bottle that is filled to 300 bar, a the reservoir on my rifle is 280cc filled to 230 bar, tested to 280 bar max.

refill rifle when it drops to 90 bar and refill bottle when it equalises at less than 230 bar with the rifle

Do you mean 150psi?
If it's not buzzing or making a noise then it's probably the switch.
They are available from ebay if it's the black plastic covered type. If you're feeling brave then whip the cover off and look for problems there.
Are you sure the fuse in the plug hasn't blown?

Thanks all it was a fuse
and it cut out at 11 bar not 10 like my mate said.
also the alarm on my air fed mask went of because my mate know tells me he turned the air down because the compressor was running on and on . If he had left it just a bit longer i wood have been out side waiting for the paint to go off and the compressor would have cut out and had chance to cool down.
oh well ill get a new mate LOL

Dive cylinders are actually 230bar as a norm. High pressure cylinders are 300bar but no actually that common for dive use as they are heavy.

My dive compressor is 350bar which fills a quad pack air bank at 350bar. I then have a pressure reducing reg that takes this down to whatever is needed on the gas mixing panel. Taken of this is another regulator which reduces it down to 10bar which then feeds into the workshop airline system. On this side I have a 100l receiver cylinder that acts as a buffer and then the workshop outlets have their own pressure reducers which are generally set at 90psi.

This sheet up gives me about 76,000 litres of gas before I even need to run the compressor. It's also fully filtered oxygen clean breathing gas so no oil or moisture of any kind in it!!
