Jaguar has re launched the brand and it's just.....awful

They appear to have made some sort of perfume advert?

Logo is sh*te too

Just looks so generic? Jaguar has some amazing heritage they could have used and yet they've used some word art.

such a shame, can only hope the new electric( ) cars make up for it...

Balderdash.

I've taken 2 X200s - S-Types - to over 120k miles with the only non routine service items being the heater control valve - a Ford part - and a power streering pump which is a generic Tier 2 supplied part.
I took my X358 Super V8 to 220k miles with one module failure - another generic Tier 2 supplied part. No 3 son then took it to 240k before selling it to a numpty who swapped out the pulleys for more boost and melted a piston on a track day. Who takes a X358 SV8 on the track!!

Unfortuately Jaguar as we knew and loved it is long gone. My X358 was the last one that met Sir William's mantra of Grace, Space and pace.
My current X260 XF isn't a patch on its predecessors, but its barely run in at 50k miles so it will proabaly see me out.

we had a 2016 Jag and it required extensive and major repair at low miles. Full engine timing system at 44k miles IIRC. Gearbox out job.

£650 Nox sensor.

Chafed wiring harness in the engine bay was another major repair new ECUs required.

Total POS not kidding the car is gone now.

Never, ever again on modern JLR products. Total garbage and anyone in the industry who is honest will 100% say the same thing. Period.

Managed to watch about one half of that repulsive advert and had to turn off as I was feeling nauseous! Always loved Jaguar, had Mk2, E Type, S Type and lastly an XF 3.0

Dreading to see what they come up with now. Sadly another part of Great Britain looks to be lost and gone forever.

My only foray into Jaguar ownership was with a 1969 series 1 SWB XJ6, followed by a 1971 XJ12, again SWB. This was in 1980, and they were both very tired by then, but I have to say, I never had a peep of trouble out of either of them, apart from rust issues, which to be fair, was a problem with all the cars from this era.

As you rightly say, the Jaguar that we know and love (or hate) is long gone.

I wonder how their pulling out of the UK market "temporarily" will affect them.

Maybe it's the addition of the 'J' that's the problem, I owned various Land Rovers for 35 years and they've always got me home.

I think you are letting your unfortunate experience colour your opinion. Which, is perfectly understandable!

I had a 1976 S2 3.4 XJ6 for many years. At same time mate had MK2 Granada 2.8GL. The Jag everyday service parts were cheaper than the Ford ! Miss that car but couldn't afford to run it after taking early retirement.

Nope not main dealer.

I also verified the faults myself before authorising the many repairs the car required.

I hear the tales of JLR products all the time. The specialist worked around the clock and loved it. He was/ is making alot of £ yard full to neck.

I think they have [correctly] identified that they don't sell with the increasingly important "Millennial" and older "Gen Z" demographics...

and rather patronisingly have tried to do an "appeal to the young people" branding exercise with weird bright visuals.

(Which I do actually think are kind of cool, in the right context like say London fashion week, or a party at an avant-garde art collective).

Whilst missing the point that their failure to sell with those demographics is because their exorbitant pricing puts them firmly out of reach for the vast majority of that demographic.

So us millennials are looking at it thinking how the majority of our peers are happy just to own a car, any car, that mostly works, and be able to pay the rent or if we're very lucky the rapidly rising mortgage...

Ain't nobody out age got the cash for buying luxury cars at RRP, that's our thoroughly middle class friends' parents you want to sell to mate.
