I've gone and made me a cabinet which i'm really happy with!!!

the problem is the extraction system is excellent and clears the cabinet really well but now i need to collect the dust somehow

it needs to do into some sort of filter!!! it is only dust and not the media but other that throwing the pipe outsite i'm struggling, and my mrs won't like the dust over all her plant

anyone got a clue what to use???

If it's sucking media out as well you need to reduce the airflow, a filter will do that. This is my setup:

The extractor is a cheapo Clarke one, the bag that comes with it lets a bit of dust through, the long filter bags are custom made by these people:

They'll make any size to your requirements, the ones I have are 25 micron.

Why not use the cyclone idea like a Dyson?? In fact why not get an old/knackered Dyson from Freebay/Freagle/freecycle and fit the cyclone parts and dust collection bin to the output from the extract fan?? Just an idea....

That should work well, I used a Dyson and the dust settles out in the middle and any media on the outside part of the chamber so they were easy to seperate. The downside is that there isn't much capacity.

It would be better to suck air through the cyclone rather than blow it to reduce leakage.

Not much capacity, true, but as this is a DIY cabinet, it might be sufficient to cope with blasting clean small parts.

I use a Dyson, on my cabinet, and part from the noise, it works very well

well as promised some shots of the cabinet, all in all it works well but theres alway room for improvement

through the vision panel, 4mm glass but even this gets scratched, whats can i do about this????

view from the inside with the inlet and outlet sucting out which work really well, i've given ups trying to filter the dust a just thrown the pipe outsite :lol:

made my grid out of 4mm rod

and my extraction, suction out through a 6" inline fan, move about 500m2ph. the box you can see on the back allow the grit to drop so it doesn't get sucked away

i'm using it to do my wheels for my cars and they come up a treat, takes just under and hour to do one but it's better than paying someone esle to do it

all in all the cabinet has cost me under £100 so it's nice and cheap

any thoughts???

looks canny i use thickish cellophane held with double sided scotch tape on inside of cabinet . when visibility gets bad rip it off and renew i use the same exhaust as u, into freshair

That looks really good. Im looking for a Blasting cabinet. Any plans on selling it after you have finished with it
