Got asked to make one of these by a friend, and it's an interesting little challenge.
My partner is also into her jewelry making, and a former colleague i'm still good friends with is too, so the plan is to make three from a piece of 75×12 ground 100MnCrW4 and send them all for hardening at the same time.
I opted to drill the holes for the rods that the jaws slide on before cutting the blank down, which did mean drilling and reaming two holes with a 23× L/D ratio, but that actually turned out far better than I could have reasonably expected, (using a brand new Gühring drill probably helped mind).
Then chopped the blank up and milled matching flat faces for the 90° section
And moved on to forming the features which are unique to each flat jaw.
I've given up for the evening now, but pondering the best way to make the 45 degree faces next, which is going to be a bit awkward whichever way I try to do it.
