I have recently ventured into the world of welding and the possibilitys are endless.

I managed to pick up a brand new (unwanted gift) Clareke 135TE for £90 and have been continually using this site as ref for practicing my welding.

I have now joined the forum as it seems liek a very friendly place.

Welcome blue95. I have found the same thing here - loads of helpful experience here, and unlike some other forums, they wont shoot you down for asking something. (Well except that nasty weldquip, but just ignore him) - Just joking

When I got my welder it was very overwhelming/intimidating, there is very little info out there as a whole. This site has it all, detailed guides and a great forum.

I was up and running with my welder in a few days. I wouldn't mind going on a course, so if anyone knows of one arround Bucks for a reasonable cost I would appreciate if you could let me know. I do feel confident when using my welder now, but its always good to have someone double check your work when you first start out.

As far as i know the local college, runs a welding course, normally lasts about 12 weeks (evenings) think it costs about £100 ish (but im not sure about that), and you get a nice city and guilds certificate at the end. Im assuming that one of the colleges in your area will also run similar courses. I have any idea one or two of the forum members may have been on welding courses, perhaps they will say if it was worth it

just joined today got to say the site is great
Not sure where to post this thread but im sure you lot can help
Just aquired a miller 175P three phase and yes i only have single
looking to get phase converta but havent a clue on what to get
could do with some help

Phase converters only work on motors and wont work on welding plants. Some welding units can be run on both single and three phase, common with the old oxford type arc welders. There is a possiblity it may have a similar set up. THe two forum members most likely to know are weldequip or diywelding, both are welding supply dealers and have good knowledge on such matters

Start a new thread on using it on single phase. Include the full model number or serial number and I can look up options.
