I would have left the cap out and made his feets flatter.
Now Strube be honest here, did you spend ages making heroic baseball postures in the workshop as you made the figure? I bet you did. I always make sure my door is shut after finding a mate watching me doing this stuff.

I'm just learnin' this stuff and don't really have the artist's eye so I use pictures and clipart and of course I have to assume the pose occasionally... Isn't that part of the process?
You're right on the feet. something for me to keep in mind in future. I wanted the hat cuz it was fun making it with a doming block and punch.
Gave it to Al this afternoon. He loves it. Bunch of us in the neighborhood had a surprise party at his house. Fun.

Clipart and pictures is a great start.
I find drawings easier to work from as somebody else has done a lot of the work already, they have dismantled the structure and analysed it for you. The next job is to dismantle that and work the 'How' part of the deal.
Then we get to the hard part, putting that into action.

Found that hot piece of steel...
Yeah, but the hard part is the fun part, huh?
Ya know how you use those little pieces of steel to brace parts while you are welding? Bet you have done this a time or two, huh? Moved one hot piece "almost" out of the way, then leaned down for the next part. Oops. Telling people it is tribal scarification. Wife did not laugh...

What happened to the other eye?
That is one accident I have never had. I always wear funky German army tank driver suits at work, fire retardant and thick; just like tank drivers. Granted I am always burning my fingers and hands. You know the feeling. 'Hellthatishot,nodamnhot,nohell thatreallyhurts,but dammned if I will dropit' or the blob of weld that goes down your sleeve and works its way down the your back sizzling all the way, or gets stuck under the wedding ring. Ignore them for long enough and they stop sizzling. Eventually.
Wives? mine laughs at me all the time, especially when I am self injured then she heals me. She is a Reiki healer. I was damn sceptical about this stuff at first. Now I am on the phone for distance healing the minute I get hurt at work. Me the scientist after spiritual help. Bonkers, but it seems to work.

I was just making that "disgusted with myself" face. No eye injury. Funny, some years back my wife was interested in Reiki also. Seems that interest went away I guess so now I just get scolded when she sees a new mark... No inking. Not like I am an artist or anything...
