Just bought....

....an ingersol rand,200ltr,3hp compressor off ebay,and very pleased with it,but dont know a lot about it.Can anyone advise me on what else i need to buy now,i.e airhose,fittings filters etc.Also whats involved in a service,and would anyone know the cfm of this model,as there is no plate on it.Its a twin piston one.

Need more details on the compressor as i'm sure they do a few models of that spec.

As for things to get, depends what you plan to run off it. But water trap, pressure regulator etc are good bits to have. Without any information provided can't give you any advice, so perhaps add some.

Sorry for such bad description mate,but these are all the details i have.It has been repainted so there is no info plates on it.Would it help if i posted up a photo of it.All i know is its 3hp,200ltr and twin piston,oh and its 240v,but works perfectly.

You do tend to find compressors are pretty generic. For a given hp is xx cfm for the same style of compressor, the ratings based on this have not really altered to any degree for donkeys years.

In theory you should be able to look up any matching compressor range and look for 3 hp and get a pretty good idea of the capacity of your compressor. You can look at several different makes/ ranges and take an average, it will be pretty accurate.

Now if you compare the ingersoll rand range to the Clarke's, you will see what i mean hp for hp is ni on the same cfm output.

I was more so meaning about what you're going to use it for. Hard to recommend bits you'll need if we don't know what you're going to use it for

Impact guns, spray painting, sand blasting, pumping up tyres etc :P

Well at the moment bud,its mainly painting im going to be using it for,well until i sort a unit out,then maybe stemming off into other areas,so who knows.

Well from what i've read you will want around 10m of airline from the compressor, then a water trap, then airline to the spray gun. Will need a regulator in the line too, closer to the gun will be better to adjust pressure at the gun.

Yes,it is a v-twin,just the older version i assume.I know its definatly has twin cylinders,so in theory it is a v-twin aint it.Just waiting for someone to prove me wrong now.

The bloke at maccy mart,said i wouldent need the filter with built in airline as there is already one on the compressor,so just bought the clarke one in red for £17 some odd,along with 30m of airline,but thinking about it now i think i have plumbed it wrong,as i have fitted threaded connectors on the inlet and outlet of the filter,so i cant interchange my long airline for a shorter one when needed.

So i take it i need to move mine then,as its mounted just above the compressor,but at the moment i will only be painting the odd body panel,so dont know if anyone can advise on this.

i just use the one filter regulator on the tank using airtools. for spraying i use 2 filter regulators the one on tank and another in the hose line near the spraygun.
