Just spotted this on ebay, and took a punt... (Manchester Rapidor)

So, its, i assume, a Manchester rapidor. The ad said nothing about it at all, and the seller seems to be into architectural reclamation, and i dont think knew anything about it anyhow.


So, what you see is what i get. Im wondering if i did well, or if its just going to be a time sucking red-herring that i end up wishing id never seen.


Anyhow, the deal is done, and ill go and pick it up, but im hoping that those who know might advise on if ive just purchased scrap at multiples of the going rate, or if it looks like it might live once again?

what did u pay for it mine was quite well knacked but i put the time and effort to get it rite

It is a Rapidor and they are very robust so not likely to be a turkey after a bot of tlc

Im more interested in if there are any obvious bits missing from it though - im not familiar with them. I was looking on ebay for a cheap, 2nd hand, chop saw for cutting up pallet wood for the fire, and just stumbled across the auction with 13 mins left on it. So i had a go, and here i am.

its worth more in scrap. its a gift 4 that price it looks all there there quite basic

cast is, what, about £110 / tonne at the moment.

am i looking at 200kg? do they come apart much for lifting?

(i have an engine crane that i usually use for this kind of stuff, but i left it with my lister engine, thinking that i would not need it for a while.... its 250 miles away!)

It looks grand.strip, clean, reassemble.perfect.

if u spent an hour it would come to bits easily enough with some wd 40 and some whitworth spanners and sockets to lighten it

Put a bow saw blade and it'll cut firewood perfectly, if unconventionally.

bowsaw blades arent 14 inch long and it wouldnt like the course blade

It will not weigh anyway near 200kg. I have the major (Bigger) and i transported it in the back of my car. The minor is prob about 60 to 80 kg

Buy a bigger one, cut it and drill a new hole in it. I'm sure blades are available that could suit this purpose.

Buy a bigger one, cut it and drill a new hole in it. I'm sure blades are available that could suit this purpose.

as i said they wont pull over a coarse wood blade without the belts slipping
