Tried that but only found help on firing issues (like that one)- my unit fails before it gets that far - this forum has been great for me in the past - not just on my welding questions - great bunch!
No - I asked in the diynot forum too - and copy pasted my text over - both forums have been very informative in the past - didn't realise the linkage on my post - no wish to offend - just looking to informative people people for helpAre you just posting a random link to another forum?

Hi, From my limited experience with space heaters the fan is on one end of the motor and the fuel pump is on the other. So if the fan is not turning check the power feed to the motor or power the motor independently, it may simply be a case of a seized motor.

No - the temperature is displayed on the lcd - but the LED lamp does not light wherever I set the thermostat. No fan - nothing - on a similar heater the fault finding says "if LED does not light needs service"
But I can see that the thermostat is switching by checking with a multimeter behind it on the PCB. Also the safety stat has continuity so has not tripped and failed to reset - tried both disconnecting it and shorting it out - no effect. It's getting 15v AC to ground - no DC. So something seems to be preventing it going on to attempt ignition.

answers are alot different to when you first posted
seen as theres no temp display then you have a pcb problem
i can see diodes and also magnetic switches
id be checking the mains input to that via the transformer then diagnose through your diodes
magnetic switches can weld shut and fail to open after all it happens within mig welders often with sip and clarke welders and any other type of machine that uses a magnetic switch
a false positive from your light reciever
The red wires connect the switch and the safety thermostat. The blue wires are the photocell. the white outer pair is the temperature probe - which is I guess is working as the ambient is being correctly displayed on the LED Display although the LED Lamp no longer illuminates.. The knob controlled start is soldered straight onto the PCB - no wires to connect.

I would check there is resistance between the two blue wires then, open circuit could suggest a photocell fault which could possible shut the heater down.
Would that fail open circuit? - could I link that out to try it?

Anytime we've had issues with the photocells, the heater would still fire up then promptly shut down as it couldn't see the flame.
OK - The photocell showed open circuit - I shorted it out - the led light came on - and she fired up BINGO - Many thanks mate.
I imagine a Sealy or similar replacement photo cell should work - We'll see - parts suppliers are hard to find except American ones and they are for 110v versions. Repairers I could not find at all.

OK - UPDATE - I have been talking ******** - After reading Fraserb 's info I realized the photocell was not faulty - but I must have previously put the machine into lockout mode somehow possibly by turning off at the mains instead of at the thermostat as per the instructions last time I used it - and the procedure to clear the lockout by switching off and on at the on/off switch did not function. However by powering it up with the photocell shorted out the machine somehow came out of lockdown and now functions correctly.
