kit bike part I

I have been asked to deconstruct two knackered Suzukis and make an 'Airfix' style montage out of them.
Project has snowballed to need eight frame assemblies from the two motorbikes and four made out of pushbikes. Old skinny racers. Looks like they are targetting Urban Hipsters.
First motorbike frame finished yesterday.
This is just tacked together, this morning I tweaked a few bits and finalised the welding
I think we may be onto a winner. I can see boutique MC dealers being interested.

Stripping bikes is no fun.
Never ask an artist to strip your engine.
I've never been inside the crank cases of a bike before.
Some brutal liberties have been undertaken. the Angle Grinder is not a spanner but he likes the game.
One down nine to go.
The engine is laid out on the operating bench for assembly tomorrow

The guy in charge wants a patina of age on it. Handy for me.

It may be a touch obsessive but could you weld a plate in a corner with a capital letter on it, my memory of plastic kits says they had this.

Some sprues have an ID plate, could you get your "advert" mounted like that?

I know you are making an Art piece but check that real molding. No part is attached to another part. Each part springs from its own sprue.
Then have another go at the client to include the sprue ID (aka your nameplate) - all in the interest of authenticity of course.


That's an interesting piece and surely has the potential to morph from Art Piece to Decorative Product.

Next challenge - make a better fist of a wall mounted Jaguar than JLR did at Castle Bromwich.

ETA - start with an older steel one before venturing into a more modern one!
