I understand that machine speed is usually where issues arise. Is there a recommended speed for say mild steel, stainless and Alu?
I’m unsure of the model number but I’ve attached a photo for reference.

Don’t worry I’ve said I’ll take it regardless! Just need to open It up when I collect to see how the speed is controlled and have a look at modifying it. Any ideas how the speed on these units are usually regulated?

Probably just has a basic induction motor (roughly constsnt speed) with pulleys and belt to the driven wheel, no actual speed control? If it's multi speed you probably have to move the belt between pulleys?

I have a very similar dewalt on and often cut ali with it, no issues at all. Have cut steel with it too, but had a 24tpi blade in, blade didnt last long, but finished the job i was doing, cutting up a load of 1.5 mm steel sheet. Use 14 for ali, wood, plastic what ever else. Blade 10 mm wide, to go round corners youd need a narrow blade.
Found this which looks like it confirms that it’s an induction motor (Kity Elma Troyan).

If that’s the case I assume it’s either a matter of changing the pulleys to adjust the speed or swapping out the motor with something slower, if it isn’t already adjustable in the machine?
That’s good to know about alu, I reckon I’ll be doing more mild/stainless however so will be worth trying to slow it up to avoid chewing through blades too quickly.
