so, the tool steel, brass rod, stainless tube and the black palmira scales arrived yesterday morning, so I made a quick (and crap) drawing of what I want it look like
took them into work (only place I have access to a good vice and a bench grinder. coloured in the steel with a sharpie (couldn't find any marking blue, sharpie is just as good)
Marked out the length and thickness of the blade, and the hole points to be drilled for the pins using an old vernier caliper to scribe the lines on
15 mins with a hacksaw and the bench grinder and I had the excess cut off from behind the handle, blade ground down to rough size and the brass rod and steel tube cut to rough size
haven't put curve on the blade yet, am waiting until I have got final thickness, then will clean the black off and draw the curve on and cut and file down til its right
haven't had chance to do anymore yet as work has picked up again, and im waiting for a new set of drills to arrive as most of mine are either lost or broken at the moment.
also, I am aware that It would probably have been wise to drill the holes while I still had a full parallel length to clamp in the vce, however I will be drilling with a hand drill with the part upright in a vice so it doesn't really matter
