I restored a Series 3 years ago and have now sold it on. I still have a steering box that I replaced due to having wear on the inner steering column.
I have a rebuild kit but this is only useful if the bearing surface in the column is in good order.
I'm seeing items on ebay for £150 + 'in working order', or 'a bit rough, needs servicing' which I can imagine have the same problem. Some at the higher end £250+ might be in better shape, or maybe not?
The inner steering column seems to be about £250+
I can't decide on the economics of refurbing (it's an easy enough job, from memory) to sell, selling for spares, or just scrapping it (seems a shame)...
Does anyone have any experience or know of source of cheaper inner columns or someone doing repairs?

At £80 seems worth a punt, and I can take pictures of the rebuild to show a buyer so they at least know they're getting a working box. Nice little weekend project.
