An ex squaddie once reckoned they had to drive a bunch of them on the road from the middle of Germany to Denmark, no cabs either!

Can't remember the reason why, but I think they were just delivering them to another unit.

I’ve got a big Clarke but it’s hopeless in yard situation, a nice big Hercules on pneumatic tyres would make life better

The power steering was way under powered (there was twin ram conversion kit but only very special customers managed to get them) and they also had vacuum servo assisted brakes, which were a real pain to set up...

I thought the forklifts they used to move big machines at my last place were clever, the rear wheels & counterbalance could be moved backwards to give more lift. I think they maxed out at 40 tons.

Foundry I worked at used to have a side loader for loading trailers with billet. It was handy for what it did saving a lot of space for the longer items a fork truck had to carry sideways on.
