Laser welding vs Micro TIG

I was talking to someone today who uses laser welding for repairing cobalt chrome dentures. The gear had broken down (fairly ancient I think, although I didn’t actually see it) and he was looking about for a replacement. I know another technician who bought a micro-tig setup for this purpose and absolutely loves it. What’s the difference - pros/cons of each technology for this sort of application? I know nothing, I’m just curious and if there’s an advantage to Tig I’ll let him know. I’ve seen a few videos of micro-tig and it looks fascinating, I’d love to have a go.

Any reputable sellers of either type of system I should be pointing him towards?

Laser is much more expensive.
Very versatile, more so than microtig.

MicroTig is fairly cheap.
The market leader is probably Sunstone.
Brilliant pieces of kit although i've only seen the models used for Jewellery.

Thanks Brad, I'll pass that on. It will be the same kit needed, there are a lot of crossovers between the jewellery and dental industry.

I put them in touch with someone who uses micro-tig for this daily and knows the pros and cons vs laser, so they can make their own decision. I think there might be a bit of a learning curve for them initially.
