Well, after moving house earlier in the month and moving into my new garage come workshop, I finally have room for a proper welding bench.
So last weekend I set about making a mobile bench (not sure where everythings going yet), I wanted it to be sturdy enough for most projects, yet give me some options. One thing I was sure of was that I wanted it to be higher than my other work benches which give me chronic back ache bending over them.
I sourced a piece of 1/4" plate in 4ft x 2ft from a local fab shop, and ordered 50mm x 50mm x 2mm box for the rest of the frame. Originally I had inteded just to weld some plates into the bottom of the legs and bolt on castors, but when I took a spirit level to the garage floor that wasn't an option (about 5deg slope in places).
So I plugged up the ends of the legs with some 3mm plate with a M12 nut welded to the back side, this would let me level the bench using either castors or feet depending on what set-up I wanted.
Anyhow, heres some pics, let me know what you think. P.s. This is the first thing I've welded in about 6 months so was a little rusty
